Checked against NETGEAR Support (How do I log in to my NETGEAR cable modem) on 31 Aug 2026 (high confidence), via the ssid.ai dataset (CC BY 4.0).

“Unlike other NETGEAR CM-series modems, the CM2000 has NO shared default password — each unit ships with a unique password printed on its label.”

How to log in to the Netgear CM2000

  1. Connect to the Netgear CM2000 by Wi-Fi or a network cable. On a phone, turn off mobile data.
  2. Open a browser and go to 192.168.100.1.

  4. Open the Wireless or Wi-Fi section to change the network name and password.

If the login does not work

  • Check the label first. This model has a unique password printed on the device — admin / admin will not work.
  • Someone may have changed it. A factory reset restores the login above.
  • Reset: Press and hold the recessed Reset button for 7 seconds until the power LED blinks amber.
  • Wrong address? Check your default gateway — see how to find your router’s IP.
  • Type http://, not https://, and turn off any VPN or Private DNS.
